well been on about getting a Corsa C now for a while, been looking at the 1.4 sxi/sri or the 1.8 sri.

now though ive thought about the Astra G 1.8 sport/sxi/sri

Dont really know anything about the astras, ive never been in one so dont really know what they are like inside or performance wise and extras.

any advice would be great

Astra.

Doors clunk better, Dash feels better, seats are better, car is more practical, car has less stupid little annoying faults.

No contest for me.

The Corsa will obviously be quicker, but the Astra will be nicer to drive, and you'll want to keep it for longer.

ok, but how often do you actually do 0-60mph and sit at 134mph on the motorway?

Day to day driving the Corsa will be the more capable car. Unless you need a mid sized car the Corsa is the better option.

but you won't need to replace half the suspension/steering on the astra.

the earlier 1.8s had less power than the later ones. I think it was 115bhp and 123bhp, so the later ones are better.

the sri had better seats than the sport IIRC, and may have had the irmscher bits, but I'm not 100% sure, I can't remember.

I know the old Vectras were 115bhp then 123bhp for the new shape.

hardly any differance between 1.8 sxi and 1.8 sri mostly just badge's no differnce engine wise and performance, sri's came standard with a spoiler silver dash insert leather wheel and the later sri's came with grey seats insted of the red square pattern
sport is just a earlier verison of the 1.8 /1.6 sxi i belive differnt wheels? and earlier less powerfull x18xe i think?

I know it's obvious, but try searching Auto trader for each model and you should get a good idea of the differences between the different specs.

Another thing to consider is if your bothered about Fuel economy or not, as strangely the Astras are better than the Corsa! (due to the astra having a longer ratio gear box than the Corsa - which is annoying as hell on the motorway!)

what about buying prices.

is the astra going to be more money to buy then the corsa, lets say they are both 01 to 03 plates.

some 1 did suggest to me to get a focus but they are even slower arent they
