Been living here 6 months now, this is my living room -

Thats before everything went in, the sofas are in the same place, the TV is in the top right hand corner.

Was sat there today and after the flat panel tv thread, im thinking...

remove fireplace surround, get flat panel mounted on that wall, and box inside the fireplace with a small shelf for sky box and DVD player

with a large leather beanbag thingy in front of the window, and replace the curtains with a nice wooden venetian blind.

I think it would look much better, but it means loosing our flat screened big asses TV - BUT it could go in my room/spare room so not really a loss.

Only an idea but im really liking it opinions?

PS - this will seem like a silly thread to most of you but i am asking as a decent LCD TV is going to be quite an investment!

Only way to show u is pic of when previous owners lived there -

TV is where they used to have theirs, but im thinking it will look bigger on the chimney breast - but would it be able to support the weight of a TV as they are structural arent they

If the chimney breast is brick, then it will take the weight of a flat panel TV. when was the house built?

I have a 23'' LCD in a stud/plaster board wall in the bedroom, hasn't fallen off in nearly 2 years Wouldn't fancy putting my 32'' up though unless it's brick?

Have you considered having the chimney stack removed?

Apart from that what Mav said

Yeah its a brick one

Jules - thought about having them removed as theres 2 in the lounge and 2 upstairs but seeing as i will be selling up in a year/2 years it doesnt seem worth the ££!

Robin - house was built in about 1905

I jst want it to feel abit bigger and settled, as to me atm it just looks odd

mmm, how about having the TV on the wall on the left? then having the sofa on the right facing the TV?

Just seems a weird place to have a TV thats all, on a small wall like that.

Just throwing ideas in the air

Cant have it on the wall on the Left Dave as there isnt enough room in front of the window for the sofa to sit in tidy, good idea thou.

Want to have a play with the idea this weekend but have had a firm word from Rich that he doesnt want to be involved

if you do put it on the chimney stack, whoever sits on the far right of the 2 seater is gonna struggle to see. Plus point is, whoever gets the single seater is in a prime position.

they are two doubles mate the one on the left looks like a single due to the angle at which the shot is taken

I don't think anyone will ever be totally happy with the way their house looks there's always something that needs replacing/changing/moving etc...

get a bracket with a long arm on it , and have it on an angle in the corner, hard to describe it but like one side of the tv touching the window wall and the other side touching the fireplace wall. like the angle your tv is at now just higher up?

would be easier for people to see then and would face into the centre of the room.
