Hi People, apologies if this is a repost but i couldn't find anything using the search...

Prob 1
Occasionally when i slow down or take my car out of gear the revs will sit just above 1k until i have almost stopped, then drop down just below 1k where it normally idles.

Prob 2
At high revs the engine makes pretty loud rattling noises, its hard to describes and it's not the tappets. I also have the correct amount of oil in the car. More worried about this one as it seems more serious

Can anyone help?? It's a 1.6 16v sport.

Cheers

Dont think there are any heat shields left as the exhaust is straight through and I am unable to see any.

Thought the cambelt was done around 60k miles (cars on 77k at the moment) But I am unable to find the service history book to make sure.
Is there any other way to check If it has been done recently? Could it be worth changing the cambelt water pump and idlers just in case?

Cheers

if it was changed 17k ago then it should last.. (coming from the guy who has had on average one cambelt a month due to head coming off so often.. )

Maybe the casing is abit loose and causing it to rattle? Maybe have someone rev the engine with the bay open and have aloook?
