i've just tried fitting mine but the disc doesn't fit round the hub flush, there's about a 1mm gap which i don't know what to do with??? Am i right that the spiggot rings go on after the disc so they sit inside the wheel?

You need a spiggot ring for the disk and the wheel to sit them central.

is it possible to use the wheel bolts to hold the disc in place or is that dangerous?

Personally, I wouldn't fit them like that. The disc won't sit central in the hub.
