Why cant you put a 1.4 kn filter and put it on a 1.0 whats the difference ?

If you can make it fit, it fits. It doesn't matter about the size.

so why do they sell the 1 for the 1.4,1.6 and 1 for the 1.0,1.2? i take it that the larger the filter more noise ? that right?

the pipe where it connects to the inlet manifold is most likely a different size.

The filter is essentially the same, the outlet size where it fits the induction system varies.
