Author Stuttering engine....whats the problem?

When I start my car up after its been standing for a week or so, the engine seems to judder for 5 or so minutes when I start up. After a few heavy revs and a couple of miles, it stops. Anyone got any ideas on what it could be please? its a 1.2 '97 reg. Cheers
