Got the car ready for painting this weekend. Didn't manage to paint it today as i am busy doing other stuff. Gonna paint the car and doors tomorrow night. I sprayed wet on wet primer on any rub throughs today ready to quickly rub down tomorrow before i apply the colour.

i decided to paint the inlet the same colour as my mate removed it and primed it up a while ago and never got round to painting it. Im painting it on the engine but its fine as i have moved everythimg out the way so i can get paint all round the edges.

The rear window and rear screen rubbers wont come out at all think they might be bonded in so i used lifting tape to move them away from the panel to allow paint to get in behind.
You just lift the rubber with a filler spreader or similar tool and push the tape in behind then put masking tape over the top. It works really well and is sometimes easier than taking the rubbers out.

The rear windows are bonded so didnt want to remove them.
But i tried to get the rubbers out i think they have been bonded in with the windows.

im using solvent base this time. I get less shit in the paint than some of the crap painters at work so as long as you wet the floor down and blow the place out before you paint you'll be fine

Just got in from painting it. quite pleased with it.
Luckily my new panel stand came this morning so i was able to hang the other door.

Heres the car in basecoat

Yes it is the same colour as before but Ben (the owner) loves this colour. So i put it on it but to make it look a bit different i went for this

Its red holographic metalflake (found it on ebay really cheap aswell but good quality) Im pleased with how it is laying but is still a bit bumpy through the surface of the laquer would go with a full flat and polish but ill be there all day polishing the shuts up so gonna flat it all down tomorrow and put some more laquer on. Will give it a real deep shine.

i did i scooby in that flake a couple of years ago at college with a red basecoat, it didnt look much but when we pulled it out side in the sun it was amazing, we put 2 coat with it on, the flatted it with 2000 took ages, with the door shuts we only grey scotched them but with the extra 2 coats on laquer it didnt feel as rough,

looking good matey the car has completely changed
