ok, my x16xe has done 130k now, and the bottom end is gone, burns 1ltr of oil in 3days....and growls
looked in my savings and found ive got 1500 notes to spunk on my rebuild....
what would you all recommend doing??
thinking of 2mm rebore upto 81mm ...
reground balanced crank....knifedged?
3angle valve seats...
skimmed to comp ratio of 10.5-1 (11.5-1 standard)
will i have enough change to buy a mantzel and cams??

so...er, you want to lower compression on a more performance related NA engine
All the work will do pretty much jack shit on a mild engine too.
Pop in the main ingredients first before the nit picky things like valve etc.
2mm rebore..... Think seriously about it. That'll be pretty much max on the block, no room for error or rebores. Block gets scored, you need another block.
ARP rod bolts
metal idlers

erm....meant the other way round then.....raise the compression ratio to 11.5.
speaking to my engineer today, he recommends a 1.2mm rebore
what exactly will arp rod bolts do for me?
metal idlers?? wtf are they?

ARP bolts are just stronger and will last under a larger compression rate i think. Expensive though. Id also recommend forged steel pistons and conrods, but they are tad pricey.

If I had £1500 and a knackered x16xe I would:
buy a c16xe head and get it re-built
rebuild the x16xe block with crank re-grind, new bearings to match, block will need honing and new piston rings fitting.
new water and oil pump, clutch and timing belt.
ARP rod bolts and SBD cam belt rollers
4-2-1 janspeed manifold
Mantzel powerbox and a re-map or dastek ecu with 7500 limit.
then when funds allow you have an engine which is ripe for throttlebodies and the resale value of the mantzel and ecu will help fund the tb's as well.

Rob_lee on here has a c16xe engine for sale running somewhere over 120bhp currently. It was bought new from vauxhall and has around 10k on the clock iirc. Hes selling, I think it would be the best start. U2U him.
