ive got an ashley competition3inch backbox which i bought a while ago because the quote on the site was "loud as fuck". But on my 1.2 it aint. Its a bit deeper than standard but cant really hear it wen the revs get up.
How cud i make it louder, dont mind it being raspy i just wanna get noticed.
Wud it be best getting rid of the cat or replacing the centre with a straight pipe?
Any1 have their 1.2's very loud?if so wot setup you got?

wud the straight pipe make much of a diff cuz i cant b arsed messin bout with the cat come mot time and plus i dont want a road side emissions test

well the straight pipe replaces the original centre section with has a silencer on it. Running decat is a risk you're going to have to take. Although the straight through centresection and cat will make it louder.

Ive removed the Centre silencer on mine and it gurgles and pops and bangs...thats on 1.4 sport btw

buy a straight through pipe or get a garage to cut out the sliencer and weld a pipe in place.
£40-80 on ebay for mild / stainless direct fit pipes.
wouldn't bother with a decat tbh, will be loud with a straight thru.

I agree with some of the points in this thread BUT you are right ppl could put them across better to you.
My personal opinion would be to spend money elsewhere but if you really want it that bit louder do as was suggested and straight through pipe..
A wee note, In my old XE GSI corsa I had a straight through pipe, no cat just backbox..The noise done my head in and I fitted a centre silencer and It sounded loads better but still loud but a better sort of loud if you get me...
DO you have an Induction kit? If not get one and that will make a slight difference to the sound, not much but better..Thats what I would spend my money on if I was you..

If u've got nothing decent to say or ur just gonna slate him, why post?
He simply asking to make his exhaust louder, no need to rip him.
As people have said, put a straight thru centre section on it, if it's still too quiet put a de-cat on it. If it's STILL not loud enough, put a different back-box on it

ayup pal! iv got same problem as you m8! iv recently had a backbox on my corsa, it sounds louder but still not loud enough! iv been told to have the second silencer removed and have a straight through pipe! apparently it will be noticably louder and will sound good! can always have the silencer put back on if your not happy with it ey m8! im takin mine the garage on monday to get a quote! if its under a hundred quid im defo havin it done! i want people to hear me comin too, u get me lol! good luck m8, and fcuk the people that are slating you, they are probably hardcore boy racers!

To answer your point, There are exhaust noise level restrictions and roadside checks on emissions may well include this test aswell. Just be careful

like i said i dont wanna take the cat out cuz of emmisions and its a 1.2 so its never gonna b loud enuf to cause a prob!beleive it or not i do respect everybodies views i just dont appreciate certain words being used..cock, clown etc.

if u wanna mek it louder take all the silencers off it .and dont go for too big off a back box cus it will decrease ur power and it will sound tinny get a nice size like 2 or 3 inch .

Iv got a straight thru centre section and a twin 2.5" back box, its fucking loud and unfortunately has landed me with a 30 quid fine. Think about it (which is wat i didint do) can u get away with a loud exhaust in your area, if you can, will your neighbours complainlike fuck. Im speaking from experience ever since i got my zorst fitted iv been pulled by the cops and have cops knocking at my door. The way my neighbours see it is im the only one on our street with a modified car so any loud music or loud exhaust noise is me. Is it really worth it? I dont think its worth 30 quid everytime the police stop me, or the hassle with police at my door every month.

pain in the arse that init mate! fukin old peolpe nex door or families wit young ones! alwayz giv ya a mouthful wen ya washin the car bout the noise ya car makes or cumin in evry nite at like 3 in the mornin! to be honest fuk it! as long as your backbox is legal, i cant see how your doing anything wrong, unless its rediculously loud!
