My corsa 1.4 8v seems to have alittle problem with no/weak spark. Once before a month or two ago i did have trouble getting it to start. The engine would turn over but wouldnt start but on the 3rd try and pressing the cluth in it started up fine and started fine before/after that, so i didnt think much of it.

Fast forward to today. I took my car to the local kwik fit to get a brake check as my front brakes had started squeeking (needs new pads) and after they had finished i said ill pop down another day to get it sorted. Jump in the car, turn the key, wont start (good place to brake down eh? ) Try 3 times with and without the clutch and the gas and nothing, turns over but wont start (battery is fine). The guy has a look under the bonnet for me, pulls something out and asks me to try starting it. Looked as it it wouldnt start again but after around 6 or 7 seconds it finally started then he askes me to turn it off again. He plug back in whatever he pulled out and then it started up just like normal. He told me to get the distributor and something else (forget what) as there was no/weak spark.

Car was serviced 1,200 miles ago and had new spark plugs then, so those are fairly new. Car normally starts up fine with no problems (cold or hot) and this is only the second time ive had any problems starting it in about 2 1/2 months.

Any advice on what i need to get checked/fixed/replaced and is this going to be expensive?

Bump and a quick question.

Would a problem with the crank sensor make the EM light come on? When i called the garage up earlier they said it could be the crank sensor but they wouldnt know for sure without it going on the machine. This reminded me that about a week or so ago when i was parking up somewhere the EM light came on, but by the time i noticed it had come on i was already starting to turn the engine off and couldnt stop myself. Ever since that the EM light hasnt come back on so i wasnt really sure what to think about it, the engine didnt sound rough or anything in those few seconds the EM light was on, but as i wasnt driving around i cant say im sure what it was doing.
