....having lazer surgery on my eyes in 7 1/2 hours, shitting a big old brick and zero chance of sleeping tonight tbh!

So hopefully I'll be able to see this time tomorrow, or I'm gonna be pretty pissed off!

Goodbye from me - for now!

On the other hand, my mums side, well they were wearing glasses before they walked

That was me a few hours after the op, at home, in my bedroom with curtains closed trying to get a bit of sleep, they are plastic eye protectors which I have to wear in bed every day this week (to stop you rubbing your eyes in the middle of the night by accident).

OK, to anyone considering having it done - DO IT!
It's amazing, I've worn glasses since I was about 8 or 9 and I'm 30 in a few weeks - just wish I'd of done it years ago!
I had what was called Lasik treatment which is the more expensive of the two types but has a shorter recovery period, the other type is EPI-Lasik which is cheaper and involved no cutting of the eye (unlike Lasik which does) but with EPI-Lasik you don't have vision for the next day or two and you suffer great discomfort, with Lasik you get vision back within a few hours and it's all pretty much pain free.
You get given some medication to take when you leave in the form of eyedrops, there are two types, one to reduce the swelling of the eye (which you can't notice) and the other to cleanse the eye and prevent infection. The anti swelling drops are ok but for the first few hours afterwards the sterlising drops sting when you put them in, but as the hours go by and your eye naturally heals the pain goes away with it.
Yes you will still feel slight irritation (like itching) in your eyes afterwards and you get eye drops to put in to help this and to lubricate the eye.

I had mine done at Optimax who have branches nationwide and I would recommend them to anyone, infact if I do recommend people who have treatment there then they will recieve £200 off EPI-Lasik or £400 off Lasik, so if you are having treatment at Optimax then let me know for money off!

I also had a further treatment called "Wavefront" which basicly smoothes out the contour of your pupil, nobody has a perfectly smooth dome on their pupils - we all have microscopic bumps and dips on them and Wavefront smoothes them out (I had it done as muine were worse than average), this costs £150 per eye and is done at the same time as the correction treatment and takes an extra 10 seconds under the laser - the reason for having this done is to make your correted image sharper and crisper than if you didn't have it.

All in all my treatment cost me £1600 (As my Mum was a reference for me so I got £400 off) and it is the best money I have ever spent!

If anyone here is considering having it done then feel free to ask any questions.

Well Richard as I said I can highly recommend Optimax, and if you go ahead with treatment with them let me know as you will get money off by put me down as a reference - I can be put down as a reference for an unlimited amount of people!

I went for the more expensive Lasik treatment which is £850 per eye and then had Wavefront aswell which is £150 per eye - making it a total of £1000 per eye in my case with my £400 reduction it was £1600 in total which works out at £800 per eye which is cheaper then the usual single eye treatment and I got Wavefront aswell.

Epi-Lasik is the cheaper option but I can't remember how much per eye that is.

Considering I was paying around £400 every other year for new glasses/prescription sunglasses I'll end up saving money in a few years and not wearing glasses!

Is the Lasik treatment the new one that hasn't been available that long? Supposed to be alot less risk with it if thats the one I'm thinking of
