Nippy in a straight line fair enough but they dont handle. The Corsa handles a hell of a lot worse than a Nova as well!

Power to weight ratio does look good, but the Corsa power band is right at the top with torque that isn't comparable to its power. The Imprezas power delivery will be an advantage.

Bollocks, my car is shite in a straight line, it was built for corners
If it was a straight line car it'd have an LET.

Facts and figures mean next to fuk all in the real world!! We are also talkin about a track here, not a drag strip - and not a drag strip where both cars are starting in 3rd gear at 67.8 miles per hour! The Impreza would be so far ahead from the start, by the time the Corsa has its 0.3% advantage over the Impreza (airspeed 3mph, 3rd gear, straight line between 67 and 83mph) it would be all over!

This debate reminds me of that Escort RS vid versus the standard Evo at Brunters. Standard Evo grabs 6 cars lengths from the off, then at about 150mph the RS finds its feet then passes the Evo and the driver waves - then the vid ends..........Then the full vid gets realeased. By the end of the runway the Evo has outbraked the escort and is past him on the first corner they encounter. 5 corners later and they are back on the 2 mile straight (well the Evo is anyway - RS is still on corner 2) the Escort would never see that evo again even tho the facts/ figures/ 4WD losses/ power to weight suggest otherwise!

No...............it was built for shopping trips and school runs!

No amount of money thrown at the suspension setup can account for a poor chassis! Ive been there and done it (and wasted a fortune)!

I'd have said the scooby would be miles better pulling around the bends than the corsa despite the weight, due to the 4 wheel drive.
