Speak to millers oils in Brighouse/Huddersfield, they supply glaze bust oil which you should run for upto 1k miles just like your running in the engine, think it loses the glazed bores (if you have them that is) and should cure it Gsi's do burn a bit of oil though therefore smoke

adding a 'additive' wont fix jackshit by the way. May just mask a problem for a while.

my gsi has been burning, smoking and leaking oil for years
i get puff of white smoke if i nail it at higher revs, and burnt oil smell as well, engine covered too and oil and drips!!
and most gsi's are the same when they hit around 80k miles, i mean their 11 yrs old now!!!!!!

ive had loads of quotes and advice for repairs but never gone ahead with it coz i can get vauxhall oil quite cheap around here lol

now your problem...at least.. it is your valve stem seals, at worst new valve seals and piston rings(oversized if cyliders are worn) and a knightmare would be new seals all around, rings and pistons!! etc

now to do the above should not cost too much, roughly £500 tops, but the thing is while the engine is apart you may aswell uprate and get all the old parts replaced!! saves u money in the long run and peace of mind really that you have a healthy reliable engine!

ive got to the stage were no point doing top to bottom rebuild, might aswell put in a bigger engine as ive got few years driving experience and NCB now lol

but to tell the truth your problem doesnt sound to bad, best get it checked by pro's for proper inspection

Quite a few C16XE's left the factory with undersized piston rings, Most were fixed under warranty but a few slipped the net, maybe yours has this problem?

didnt they sort the valve seals when they did the head gasket? pointless doing the head gasket really them because you need to do the same job again to do the seals!

its smoking because of the over fuling problem this has been traced to a fault on the coolent temp sensor circuit its showing 8 to 15 deg c when engine is running hot the if a sensor is plugged into atmosphere is shows 125deg c its pissing that much fuel into the engine is getting serious bore wash and is filling oil with fuel so once i tryed an ecu and dropped the oil this smoke problem may be cured
