I stoped about a year and 8 months ago, I did it when I got with my last girlfriend (who is now my ex).

I think its going to be pretty fucking hard to quit if your missus is still smoking, its going to suck so I suggest both of you stopping at the same time.

I was only 17 when I stopped, but I had been smoking for two years. I was smoking 10 a day on college days then 20 a day on weekends/days off.

How I stopped was pretty simple, I just stopped -- end of. It was hard being round friends at break times when we normally smoked but I got away with it and also my girlfriend kept me busy. After a few months of not smoking it got much better, even though I fell ill alot in the first four months of stopping.

No patches, no sneaky 'one fag aday' bollocks, just stopped. If you really want to do it you can, just got to keep yourself busy.

Glad I did it now, good luck.

i gave up (well was on one every two days) and then managed to start again without even thinkin about it, breaking the habits is the hardest thing,
finding something else to do on your breaks is quite hard

and make sure you dont smoke when your pissed coz thats a pain in the arse coz u dont give a shit when you've had a few beers

guh she needs convincing, look for free stop smoking packs on the internet and let her read all the scary shit they send you, and everyone elses success stories

Smoking doesnt benefit anyone, we get dependent on a drug that doesnt help us at all :/ Costs a fucking load too.

my first attempts at quitting were always like 'ok i'll have one or two today' and I would space them at the start of the day and at the end. BUT its just so fucking easy to think 'hum fuck it' and end up going back to 10/20 aday.

yeah I enjoyed it FAR too much when i was a smoker, I still get a slight crave after a few pints and think 'hmm i really fancy a cig'.

could always get harsh with her, say stuff like she wont be able to see her son grow up and stuff, that is ultra harsh but its true :/ No one wants to see anyone die before they have to, my nan died at 61 cause of cancer, she had YEARS infront of her but chose to smoke. bit shitty eh.

do it, dont give up on giving up fags. you'll feel like the king x 29342 once you get over the hill and have no more cravings.

Those adverts are sick. Every time i see them i'm tempted to put a complaint in. I've never smoked and never will, so i don't want to see the sick results of people who do smoke.
