My fiances dad has a rover city rover with a sony CD player in. I know that there is no problem with the CD player as i had it in my car for several months.

BUT when he is listening to the radio there is interierence (sounds like a ticking noise) coming through. We have already put a signal booster on the arial cable and taken power for this from the blue remote cable (usually used for amps - is this correct??)

I have also swapped arials with him as my corsa arial is slight longer - this seems to help a little but not completely cure the problem

sorry for the essay but Can any1 suggest nething that will help??

The blue wire is used for he remote to the amp. I wouldnt have thought it would supply enough power to be honest.

how much power does it need?? the guy at halfords told him that it needed to be cnnected to a blue cable and i assumed this was the one.

I am correct in thinking that the remote cable gives a 12v signal??

just did a quick search and found in an old post

Also, if you have to disconnect the remote lead on the HU eg: to make a display light up etc, like on the corsa's, then sometimes on the aerial there is a signal booster which is powered from that remote lead

lol i believe its a 12v feed - ill do a search to check.

if it is 12v then surely that should be enough to power a signal booster??

its a 12v feed but doesn't supply very much current.
It's only a signal to say switch the power on.
About your problem i'm not sure.

try a "ground loop" get one from halfords.
it wires up infront of your power supply in series.
takes away any sounds caused by ellectrical interference on the power line.
caused by shit like the alternator.

or buy something other than sony for a head unit.
