Author Flat Spots and a Ticking Noise

Over the last 2 days I seem to get a flat spot when I accelerate from first gear and it lasts about 2 seconds, then when I change to second gear the same happens and its really pissing me off.. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Also I had some new discs put on the front and when the car is moving there is a weird like ticking noise coming from the front end of the car yet when I brake it stops.

Your help would be much appreciated thanks
