would cost you about 80 quid for a re-manufactured one(same as new condition) from halfords if you return your old one after fitting the new one. i had to replace my alternator a few months back, bought my mates old one off his old 1400 8v engine, took about 25 mins to fit, just getting the tension right on the alternator belt was a lil tricky to get it to stop squeeling wihtout overtightening it. cheaper for you to buy a haynes manual and get a bit of hands on experiance by doing it yourself, maybe get a mate to help you out, just a thought..

As said above, can get them from Halfords for between 80 and 100 quid, they give you about 20 quid for your old one.

if they want 180 there charging you over 100 just for labor, its going to take them less than an hour, so no its not really a good price

also, dont bother going to halfords for it, look in your yellow pages for a local autofactors or someone that specialises in rotating electrics, i garantee it will be cheaper than halfords

i just bought one from a scrap yard for 25 and fitted it myself. That was a 1.4 8v though but i wouldnt think it will be much harder to fit

thats quite expensive, u can pick up a redone alternator for 70-80, or just goto the junkyard and get one for 30.

and hour's labour max = 30. but you could probably fit it yourself, not very hard at all.
