thats quite expensive, u can pick up a redone alternator for 70-80£, or just goto the junkyard and get one for 30£.

and hour's labour max = £30. but you could probably fit it yourself, not very hard at all.

i just bought one from a scrap yard for £25 and fitted it myself. That was a 1.4 8v though but i wouldnt think it will be much harder to fit

also, dont bother going to halfords for it, look in your yellow pages for a local autofactors or someone that specialises in rotating electrics, i garantee it will be cheaper than halfords

if they want £180 there charging you over £100 just for labor, its going to take them less than an hour, so no its not really a good price :|

As said above, can get them from Halfords for between 80 and 100 quid, they give you about 20 quid for your old one.

would cost you about 80 quid for a re-manufactured one(same as new condition) from halfords if you return your old one after fitting the new one. i had to replace my alternator a few months back, bought my mates old one off his old 1400 8v engine, took about 25 mins to fit, just getting the tension right on the alternator belt was a lil tricky to get it to stop squeeling wihtout overtightening it. cheaper for you to buy a haynes manual and get a bit of hands on experiance by doing it yourself, maybe get a mate to help you out, just a thought..
