I shall be doing one at the weekend on the corsa, just out of curiousity and was just wondering how much compression is good for a GSi?

you want about 200psi across all, but make sure the engine is hot so go for a spin first.
do a dry and then a wet (5-10ml oil in each bore)
and see what the results are, and no more than a 10% diff across the cyl. 5% if you are tight.

11.0:1 C16XE

partly explains why it produces more power and torque imo.

I know the shapes are different, if a little smaller on the C16XE, also the head on some X14XE's
