My Mates 1.2 8v had LOADS of mayonaise under the oil cap, i suggested wiping it off and taking it for a long drive (which we did) to see if it was just moisture, or if it was head gasket, when we came back from the drive sure enough there was lots of mayyonaise again, before we went on the drive we noticed there was quite alot of white smoke when we revved it, and the coolant water was brown.

What do you guys think? And if it is the head gasket blown how long would it have left before it needs fixing?

Needs fixing ASAP. Definately head gasket failure. If you took it for long hard drive too, the head will almost certainly need skimming too. Will need good coolant and oil flush, new gasket and new seals.

He won't have a car to trade in, in July. Either trade it in now, as it is, or get it fixed asap

compression test before anything

renew coolant and flush out system

drop out old oil and renew

compression test will show headgasket failure, if the pressure is similar across all four pots then ust do the above.
