Given my latest 'incident' with the engine pissing all over itself with oil & also over the padding...
Should I remove it completely, or replace it??

don't forget to stick something back on over the bonnet sensor, or raise it up the turret.

wooops LOL forgot to raise the sensor!!!
well its runnin ok anyways, gave the top of the engine a good clean too after the oil pissin & also removed all the plugs, cleaned down the bores & also all the leads & re-fitted...
plugs seemed a bit loose too which wasn't good! but there in secure now!
Also COMPLETELY removed the EGR on my 'test run' after cleaning the crap off the plugs... no ECU faults or anything! I left on the EGR Valve mind, just removed the air-pump & all the tubing...
Weirdness it didn't return a fault! as the engine started from cold too & also did a hot-start half way round the trip (25 miles)

bonnet sensor is a lil push-switch which detects when the bonnet is open or closed... tied in with the alarm

indeed!
shopping list for tonight is a big fook-off rusty bolt to clog up the hole & a lil rubber bung to seal off the old vacuum tubing to the EGR sensor by the suspension turret...
That should do the job & save me having to blank the damn thing off!

Its not the EGR you have removed Paul, its the secondary air pump.
EGR is located on the back of the engine and on the Corsa unless you have small hands you will find it very difficult to get to.

hmmmm bah so what the fook is that at the front then
the air-pump is connected to nothing, its just 1 hose going to the valve on the exhaust manifold & dont connect anywhere else, except for the small vacuum hose...
Ollie, do you have a pic handy of the EGR?? I can't find anything else which will be re-sircing exhaust gases connected to the engine...

so many people say its not reates but no one has yet shown me what the egr is connected to in order for it to recirculate the gasses?!

Only thing it looks like it does is pumps the gases back into the engine bay through the pump!

It pumps air to the CAT to warm it up or something, the secondary air pump that is.
The EGR, well I have no clue what it does.
I will see if I can get a pic of it later as its a lot easier to get to on the Nova with the X16XE.

Oh and BTW, the EGR is right beneath the IACV.
