why dont you boot off the CD of XP which im presuming you have?

Insert XP CD.. restart PC.
If it doesnt boot off the CD go into the bios and change the boot sequence to start with the CD rom.

If that doesnt work i think its the flux capacitor is naccard.

Sounds like a corrupt file on the bootdisks, try re-downloading them from here.

Does it not give you the option of skipping past this file and not installing it? FDC is the the floppy disc drive controller.

Where are you installing XP from? Is it a CD?

Are you installing XP as an upgrade from an old version of windows or are you getting your PC to boot from CD to install it freshly?

James... listen to me!!

Insert XP CD.. restart PC.
If it doesnt boot off the CD go into the bios and change the boot sequence to start with the CD rom.

why are you not tryign this?
you do not need the floppy Disks!
the boot disks has the same info as the CD, when you get into the installation of XP it asks if you want to upgrade etc etc, just format the drive "using NTFS" and let it do the rest

the above is corrrect you can boot from CD. However you can put the cd in when in windows 98 and choose to do a fresh install and format the drive under ntfs..instead of the bog standard fat32 format...so either way it wont make a difference if you do it form windows or not
