I passed my test in June 2004, and had been driving my Corsa a while, since March (my birthday is in Febuary)
I thought i'd recount the past (almost) a year of driving adventures I've had with you, and you can tell me whether its worth spending money on making the car look good or whether its just gonna get wrecked again
July August 04: Parked in someones drive. Their gardener (!) reversed his truck with towbar into my rear panel, cost him £400 to repair.
October 04: Just pulled out of mates drive, doing about 30, sharp corner and twat came round the corner going to fast (it gets progressively sharper) in the middle of the road, I went "Shit" and proceeded to skid side to side across the road (no ABS and it was wet) and ended up in the verge at the side of the road, tree stopped me and mate going into a river, and if we'd skidded off the other side would've written car off into a wall. me and mate both unharmed, needs new bonnet and small dent above front passenger wheel. I guess its kinda lucky it wasnt worse...
December 04: Tinnnnnny back road, no signage, flash fogging, was going about 30 (too fast for the road i admit) came to a right angle left hand turn, but there was a track slightly to the right, lost track of where i was going, icy and muddy, foot on brake and skidded up a bank, ruining front bumper and backside rear panel massively dented. Again, luckily, i was abosutely fine, as were the actual innards like the radiator. Very lucky. Plus, dent in back pushed straight back out again. Thank god... List of parts now new front bumper AND bonnet
Christmas 04: Got my tracking done. Was out 8 mill out (i think thats what he said?) each side, was shocked i could even drive the car
Yesterday: Reversed car from drive, into garage, put the handbrake on and the cable snapped. Unbeilvable. Why ME?!?!
So i've got to go to the garage tommorrow, get the cable fixed. Its gonna cost me like £300 for the vauxhall parts and to get them sprayed, if not more. The joys of cars. Almost a year of driving and all these things happening, is my car cursed? Yes it could've been worse. A lot of experiences tho.
Anyway, if you're still reading, thanks for listening. Dunno why i needed to tell everyone that. Apologies.

I drove home from work in the snow once, my mate went to wind window down and it snapped inside and window dropped out, next day drove to town to get it repaired, lost clutch half way there and proceeded to drive the rest of the way in first gear on the limiter. The car was a 20 year old 205 diesel. Needless to say it was smoking like a bitch on the way back. next day i was due to sell the car to someone at work, and proceeded to reverse the car into a concrete post, making a large dent and smashed light. Gave car to bloke for half the intended price. Later that week, his son was smashed into head-on by a scooby driver on wrong side of road. Closing speed was around 90mph, and he slipped into a coma upon arrival at hospital. He is fine now though. Car is at the crushers i hope. It is cursed.
