best bet is to do (if you are gin to keep stockl)

piston rings
shells
big end bearings
arp rod bolts
sump gasket
head gasket
new lifters cambelt and water pump

but if your going to keep the engine a while and want to get some power out of best bet is to form a basis to work from

so

as its aprt could do:

oversized pistons and rings
steel rods
arp rod bolts
headwork
cams
uprated lifters
uprated valve springs and caps
get injectors ultrasonically cleaned
lightend flywheel
lightend and balance crank etc etc list is endless

then from there on you could do tb's carbs etc etc

about 3k +

i just spend 1100 on head parts.....

steel rods are only needed if your going to get seriuos on the engine, solid lifters, 300+ cams and 9k revlimits etc

they are also very expensive

oversized pistons and rings - 700
steel rods - 800
arp rod bolts - 80
headwork - 400+
cams - 350+
uprated lifters, valve springs and caps - 1k
get injectors ultrasonically cleaned - nae sure
lightend flywheel - few hunner
lightend and balance crank etc etc list is endless - endless

If you are rebuilding it.......

Uprated seats/caps/springs to take uprated lifter, to take 284 cams (still hydraulic)
Bore out block to 2.1 (88mm pistons), fit pocketd forged pistons.
Lighten balance crank/flywheel
fit rod bolts...

That will give you a very good engine to put TB's on and get around 230bhp

not 3K at all mate cos if you pay that your getting rapped up the arse

my spec was

oversized pistons and matched rings (to 2055cc)
rod bolts
shells
big end bearings
Let lifters
valvestems
valves all cleaned
head gasket
sump gasket
new block stripped bare bare and painted
new rocker powdercoated
chrome spraky cover

few other sundries like all inlet gaskets etc

didnt come to over 900

would of done lighten abd bal bottom end but could justify it at the time

but its not half as expensive as you think

OK go price up Steel rods from SBD

your spec isnt really anything like what xhale is talking about..... youve just cleaned/rebuilt with new pistons/lifters etc... and are LET lifters really better than std c20xe items (are they solid or hydraulic, if hydraulic.... whats the point in the change?)

These are SBD's prices..... minus VAT

FLY-W5 £260.00 - flywheel
VLC-7K £159.68 - valve caps
VLP-9K £67.08 - valve platforms
CMFL-2 set of 16 £216.00 - lifters/followers
VLS-05K £112.96 - springs
ROD-148S £832.00 - Steel rods
RB2K £64.00 - rod bolts
PIST-OM86.50XS £387.20 - over sized pistons
PIS-R-VX86.50 £85.00 - piston rings
CRK-1 £1,600.00 - uprated steel crank
CM16V2-H284IN £187.50 - inlet cam
CM16V2-H278EXS £187.50 - exhaust cam

then add on all the gaskets, shells, oil/water pumps etc... new valves, stem seals etc if needed

so , yeah...... nice n cheap

My spec is pretty basic t was jst a basic rebuild to get it back up and running and form a wee basis to work from.

yeah thats fair enough i been looking into some of the prices and its pretty harsh for some of the SBD stuff....

i was lucky most of my parts were sourced by a mate with good contatcs

martin who built fads engine knows his xe stuff,
Isnt it something like 300 xe and 200 lets he has split over the years??

Xhale just do roughly what fads done, lighten and balance fly and some cams, then port and polish the head.
