See them all the time on ebay. Basically i think it screws the engine up after a while

They are a small 5 pence resistor you can buy from Maplin, the fool your engine into running rich by making it think that the air going into the engine is very dense and cold. This in no way will increase the horsepower of an engine, would you put bigger injectors into a standard engine to get it to go faster? No. It will just over fuel and confuse the ECU which will make the engine run very lean every so often... This kind of thing can theoretically cause detination in the engine which aint good...

Bought one of these resistors and it fcuked my engine after awhile. ran really lumpy then the head gasket went(dunno if was related to the resistor)

They will also hill your sparkplugs in a short ammount of time, it's basically like running a carb engine with the choke on permenantly... You wouldn't do that. Superchips are mostly a load of crap, so thier 'cheaper alternative' must be a load of shite!

They can help on the right car, with the right resistor. Its not a case of buying one off ebay though, there is a way of working out the right resistor!

From what I understand overfueling wont cause detonation, not like running lean will anyway.

If it ran really lumpy with it fitted why didn't you take it off?
