i got both PS2 has a wider range of games, and any games that come out on xbox that are half deacent, i get for the PC so the xbox dont get played

xbox is far better than PS2, visually & quality of games seems to be higher.
even dreamcast had better visuals than the PS2, much cripser & sharper image.

At the end of the day, if you look at the specs for both machines, Xbox pisses all over the PS2. Having said that, the Xbox is a lot newer - the PS2 has been out for years now.

i would say Socom 2 online on PS2 is the best online game out but in general it's down to the servers which make the online games good, EA server is pants

ps2 is older technology to that of the xbox  plus when a game on xbox is realeased theres a chance that it will be on the PC  (due to the xbox running a cut down version of windows CE) 
plus there are the advantages that you can upgrade the xbox internals - ie: harddrive, cddrive....run linux on the thing etc etc
Only thing im worried about is that sony and microshite are both heading towards the whole cinema all-in-one package...and i cant see many people going for it tbh, espeically not me. I rather stick to a decent quality dvd player and have my own HTPC system if wanted all of that

Sony are bringing out a harddrive for the PS2 which plugs in the back of it. PS3 will be out soon so could give xbox a run for it's money.

If you have the PS2 Network adatper you can install a normal IDE harddrive in it. That's all the Sony one is, it's just formatted differently so that it appears in the manager thing (shows the drive, memory card etc.).

but in portugal they did a compition on socom 2, but you could only access it with the hardrive and play in to comp it'self

what world are you on, they have been bringing it out for about 3 years now. and as for the PS3 comment you'll be lucky to see the DS before xmass and the PSP before easter 05. PS3 is at least another year off, if not longer.
