 would lowering 50mm on just springs damage my standard shockers, and would it catch on my 195/50 15's vauxhall offset rims

they will wear out pretty quickly yes u are better try to uprate them

isnt a good idea to lower on standard shocks, it'll be a shite ride and the shocks will die fairly quickly but no shouldnt rub!!

i dont understand why people say they damage shockers. during a normal drive in a car shockers can be compressed up to 100mm. going over a spped hump can compress the shocker by 50mm EASY. Gas shockers dont wear out because hydraulics inside is designed to take forces up to 3 times the weight of the car.

obviously because standard shocks are not designed for the harsher ride of hardend springs
its got nothin to do with how low u go its the poundage

wrong!! the life of your shocks is greatly reduced by fitting lowering springs!!

just checked.
depending on brand of spring and vehicle, lowering is possible without knackering shockers. it depends on the pressure exerted on shock absorber in lb f/in, and the relative return of the spring. so basically with different makes of spring will allow for a big drop without damaging the shocker.

and vauxhall corsa b and c standard shockers(rear) can take 3300lb on one 'force load cell', whatever that is

i didnt say the shock would instantly self distruct and explode but its life will be greatly reduced and the handling will be gash!!

handling will be gash ure right. i was wrong with initial comment but on some applications, with some make of spring it is possible without knackerin them.

The more you lower the more strain you put on the shock as it is already heavily compressed when at rest.
Relatively modest drops on good springs (Eibach) shouldn't do any real damage compared to dropping 60mm on Apex for example.

in that case then any1 with new corsa c change springs for lowerin ones cuz vauxhall say u only get 1yr warranty with shockers, so fuck em now cuz later wont matter

im lowered -40mm on jst springs on 15s and the ride is shocking, evry small dent u go over is like going over a speed bump the car jumps everywhere well bad

they will wear out a little faster than they would if they were on standard springs. my advice would be to get some decent dampers with your springs to eliminate the shitty bouncy ride. as for catching, i don't see it would be a problem at all as you have vauxhall offset rims.
