Picking it up on saturday.

Was going for a 2 litre conversion but sourced and 1400 courtneay turbo engine.

Reasonable price paid for it.

Will be in and running next week.

Anyone else got one on here.

oh oh

have never heard anything good about the converted 1.4/1.6 turbo's

Plus, at the low boost courtneay 'put it out with' it only makes 120bhp or so yes??

Get a EGT, AFR, boost gauges in before you drive it

are you getting a full history of the engine? has it been rebuild?

Is it running forged pistons bla bla, lowered compression??

yup, lowered compression, engine was rebuilt prior to doing the conversion.

Its actually my mates old engine. never missed a beat in the 10000 miles he had it. The car was rear ended, damaged and not fixable. Im going to be rebuilding it before i put the engine in, gaskets etc.

Car is boosting 7psi putting out 130bhp at the wheels.

a 1.4 16v boosting at 7psi putting out 130bhp at the wheels??!?!?!

You sure that isnt crank?

punto's etc make 136bhp or there about's at higher boost than 7psi (at the crank)

I aint buying that power figure...

If your rebuilding it get some decent pistons in there....

Courtenays conversion is a hack, they are meant to benefit greatly from the inlet manifolds still though....

yes id say get better pistons rods arp bolts to try and make it a little more reliable and less likely to blow itself up

Courtenay use 3 headgaskets

Get an aftermarket inlet manifold and join it on as it will greatly improve top end power also. Then you should expect to see 130-140 real bhp.

some of the figures the boy gave me could be wrong but the grapg doesnt.

129.5 bhp @5325
135 lb/ft of torque.

I dare say with a bit of fiddling it could be a decent running engine.

Everyone is a skeptic, me included but im willing to give it a try. Better than a boring valver IMO.

Not many people will have what i have.

yer i dout that, u should use a tripple plated head gasket at worst, u should realy be using forged pistons e.g. omega jobbies

i phoned up courtney a year ago, and got a quote for my 14xe to be turbo charged (£3800)

they said it would be about 145bhp (at fly) and that was with a mantelz power box as well.

so if courtney did the conversion, id assume it has a mantelz inlet manifold already

Courtenay use a triple layer head gasket to lower the compression ratio and they use a 5th injector dont they??

Id get some decent pistons and arp rod bolts in there!
And for sure the AFR gauage,
And dont go cranking the boost up!

there was a 1.4 16v turbo in fast car a few months back for sale with s/steel pistons??

diff conversions......

it was prob an early conversion, before mantzel dealership moved from VKR to Court.

if it runs fine, and fueling/EGT's are fine..... leave it....

may aswell rebuild it with a 1.6 bottom end or some shit when it goes pop eh
