i have a 03 reg corsa and ive noticed that if i reverse round a corner or summit and then immediately turn the whell the other way, its like im driving a tank, theres no life in the wheel at all! once i get going then it starts to loosen up again. my mate has the same car and has similar problems, has anyone else had this problem?

no the only thing ive voided on my warranty is my exhaust cos i got a big fat one put on. the car is going into vauxhall for the following reasons. squeeky boot, squeeky back wheels, squeeky brakes, worn away drivers seat, leaking when raining and now dodgy steering! how nice!

isnt that because of the electrically assisted power steering?

Yes mine does this aswell. It seems to do the opposite of what its supposed to. The slower you go the heavier it gets and the faster you go the lighter it gets, it is the worst steering I have ever used. CRAP.

meant to be the other way round lighter = slower - heavier = faster!!

Meant to feel more stable at high speeds and light so its easy to park etc

Yes I know but mine does the opposite. Scary sometimes when you try to turn quickly into a space and the steering just stiffens up without warning.

When parking the steering does get lighter but you have to wait a few seconds before it lightens up.
