I am going to get a console for xmas but what should I get I have been told that the ps2 plays copies, is that right ? if it is will deffo buy it cos it will be a lot more cost effective.
The ps2 package with 2-3 games is £160 and I can always stick it in the car once I can afford to do so and the xbox package with halo and project gotham racing 2 which is superb is £130, whats your thoughts people, whats the best pound for pound entertainment wise?

well ive just got x box live with project gotham and rainbow 6. and ive barely used the pc since. and it has caused me many a late night. X BOX!

any chipped console will play copies. but the exbox is better for grafix, sound n online features.
i got an xbox for christmas last year... best colsol on the market, though variaty in games isnt that of the ps2 it beats that crappy gay cube!

yes personally I was thinking the xbox for graphics but the ps2 if I wanted to put it in the car in future months thanks people

get a ps2, stack up on games so and then get ps3 is 2005

PS2 is 128bit, and XBox 32bit. The PSX was 32bit ffs.
The PS2 can equal the Xbox as shown with the new GT4 Prologue.

PS2 mate....
i used to work at comet and was in control of the games section of the store...whilst i had to update the ps2 section with new releases, the xbox and game cube sections needed to be dusted off!!! if u get my point.
cant wait for the ps3

The PS2 can't equal the XBOX in terms of flat out power. You only have to look at the age of the consoles to figure that out. The XBOX doesn't need a CPU as powerful as the PS2 because it has a dedicated GPU and twice the RAM. Technology wise the XBOX batters the PS2 in every department, its just not supported by the hardcore Jap developers yet, when/if Microsoft get them onboard we'll see what it can do.

I think I am edging towards the x box and thn if I want to get the new ps3 for the car I can always do that later on cheers people you have been a big help and I think its finally made my mind up for me, off to the shops on Thursday for me new console, Regards Paul...

I havent mate I dont have a camera shoukld have some sorted for xmas me cars going back in the body shop on wednesday to get the finnishing touches done to it before it goes for its tints and thats all my bodywork finnished I hope

the xbox will never do as well as the PS2, just because the fact that Sony have all the contracts and developers that have made the PS1 and PS2 the most successful games console ever.

No mate I dont have the rear I did have the front but sold it and bought a panique I have the karnage skirts and spoiler I have bad boyed bonnet, morrettes, m3's, euro 2 rear with plate recess, karnage spoiler, smoothed boot, single wiper on a flame red GSI

I own both and they are both great in different ways.
Depemds what games you like.
Also the relieability of PS2 is shocking. Im already on my second and thats packing in now as well!!

You cant argue with that.
The X-Box eats Ps2 for breakfast in terms of power.
The gamecube is also more powerful tha the PS2.

The XBOX can be set up with linux too to make a firewall or proxy server for your network ect.
IMO it totally beats the ass off the PS2 in terms of power and capabilites.

I've got both, and apart from gran turismo on the ps2, I'd choose xbox every time ... also get x-box live its wicked!

xbox, xecuter mod chip, 160 gig HDD, evox, hub/swith or crossover and your sorted. You can even rip xbox games straight to the HDD and run from there not to mention emulate every games console from C64 to the N64 and everything inbetween and play every kind of media on it possible. All with freeware apps, and thats not the half of it

I swapped a bed for my Xbox and already had a PS2 - IMO the Xbox rocks - better sound, graphics and like flipmo says, you can get a bigger HD and a mod chip, hire/borrow games and rip em direct to your HD.
I got a brand new XBox when I bought a spec edition Stilo last year if you wanna buy it?
