Speed Cameras!!!!!
Those f***ing yellow boxes at side of road that if the truth was known are used to generate large amounts of money for the goverment.
Take for instance the write up in sun few days ago,X traffic cop looked at few cameras and found one to be positioned in such a way that it could only be used to collect money off the motorist(LIKE WE DON`T PAY ENOUGH TO DRIVE ON ROADS AS IT IS).
To top it all off sastistics have shown that in actual fact the signs that flashes up your speed as you approch it actually slows down more motorists and cost a FIFTH of the cost of the speed camera!!!!!!!!

Police only tell you what they want you to know about the satistics,what about the real TRUTH??

Instead of cameras everywhere there should be actual copers out looking for people. This way they can catch dangerous and/or drunk drivers, which are the real problem!

There are quite a few near lower schools in my area which is dodgy cos it makes you focus on your speedo rather than a little kid who might run out infront of you

speed cameras are stupid because:
- the driver spends most of there time watching the speedo and not the road.
-the driver spends the remanding time looking behind bushes, bridges, lamp posts etc for speed cameras and not whats going on on the road.
- ppl just slam on their brakes on seeing a speed camera - thus not traveling at a constant speed, cause more pollution trhough excessive accleration ( same as speed bumps here)
- speed cameras are rarely placed at accident blackspots through proved independent studies.
- it and recently come to light that only 7% of motoring accidents are caused by speeding - hmmmm why have a camera on every road then?
- speed cameras can only catch the law abiding motorist.
- they look bloody ugly, and ruin the landscape
- they are an unfair deterent.
- hardly any of the money generated by them goes toward making our roads better.
that's my 2pence

i can't see why they don't just give the fine and not the points, at the end of the day we all know thats the only reason they are there....
that's if we have to have them
AND speed cameras are fucking useless to the locals - they know they are there - they bomb up to them at 100MPH, brake down the 20 MPH to go though, slap it down a couple of cogs and resume speed again....
well that's what i do and all the cars i follow do....

im lucky that i have no fixed cams in hull  but yes, i agree with all the arguments..get rid of them.....i hear they are supposed to stop road deaths..howabout stopping pedestrians crossing when they aint supposed to....

But i think some traffic calming methods used to try and slow traffic is just as annoying for a example around in many areas by me they have cut widths of roads along by passes where u could easily over take without dangering motorists coming the other way. Dual carriage ways being reduced to one lane, speed bumps Everywhere!!!!....

I got done for doing 81 in a 70 on a dry straight motorway on a nice summers day in light traffic. Apart from speeding where is the excessive danger? It was all about making money, hiding the van & setting up an operator on the flyover with a hi-vis vest on. Also if you send away your details without signing them and blank it the police will come looking for u! They popped in to c me last wk! Wanks!

there was sumat on tell about speed cameras the other night! they say they put the on accident black spots to reduce crashs and fatal injurys! well they did a survey ov 120 black spots across they uk and how many ov them had cameras on?

Yup i could understand if they were on estates and stuff but their not they are on country roads and fast roads which have silly speed limits such as motorways

Watched the documentary on them the other day, had some good points in it.
I agree with them in accident black spots, and around schools and shit like that. What i dont agree with is when they put them up obviously just to make money. Terrible really, they have them on the way into Nottingham city centre, really smart ones that look at your plates as you go through the first then 1/2 mile down the road find you again and see if you got between the 2 points too quickly. Stupid really as most of the time traffic is slow due to congestion and to be honest I think it would be better to let the speed be broken to get rid of the congestion quicker when the roads do clear.
Just a scam to make money off motorist on the way to and from work when they may be too tired to pay attention, stupid I tells ya!!!

yea the ones that get ur average speed between 2 points are called Specs they dont work on bikes though cause they dont have a front plate + they have trouble reading square number plates or dirty ones.
