quote:
The test is carried out in fourth gear. (This is because 4th is usually direct on most cars so gives the least losses). We dial no load into the rollers and get the car rolling in 4th at 1000 rpm. Then the throttle is opened fully and resistance is applied to match engine power. As engine power increases the resistance is increased, just to provide a steady smooth rate of acceleration. When maximum power has been shown and power is decreasing the transmission is disengaged and allowed to free-wheel on the rollers. This means the huge amount of energy built up into the rollers is reversed and they drive the transmission up to the clutch.

There is then a negative torque reaction and the amount of power required to drive the transmission is added to the power previously measured at the wheels

wots so inaccurate about that?

why have you changed from sxi boy -> sxiboy1?

craggy is a demon launcher though, and the 1/4 mile seems to be his thing.

it may have said 138bhp on the slip, but its just an estimated guess by the RR.

157.5 on the rollers when manufacturers figure is 158 seems like a pretty good 'estimated guess' to me

Agreed to both

This is exactly it - the rollers gave expected, accurate figures all day, so why would it be soooo far out on Richy's?

Why not just admit that as standard, his car was obviously one of those with a better output, and that his mods have helped that along further?

But surely jsut for 1 minute, think about it?!

There was what, 17 cars on the rollers that day? (correct me if I'm wrong)

Why would only 1 be so massively inaccurate?

trotty> as luckyB said earlier.

if his gti had been sitting, and the g/box oil cooled down, the @fly figure would have increased due to the oil resistance being greater.

thats why.

i cant comment on the rest of the cars.

sooty said himself the car had been sitting for a while outside. back on an earlier page.
