there are far too many different factors, on too many different cars.

130bhp were only vts, not pugs, this was due to citroen playing about with the exhaust systems, as around the 99/T reg period, pug's had their cat's built into the manifold, whereas citroen didnt and tried to get round a few emissions laws, this is where the 10bhp gain comes from, which shows just how responsive to zorst and breather mods these engines are

as luckyB said earlier.

28% is too high a transmission loss figure.

nearer 20% is more accurate, or what it should be.

Yes!

Simon - why not just agree to disagree? If you really do dispute Sooty's result then fine, so be it, but lots of people (myself included) feel that he should be chuffed with his result, which can be attributed to a decent stanard engine, plus some initial mods, and has been proven on what appeared to be a rather accurate RR?!

it wasnt the exhaust system sxi boy.

they didnt try to get around them, they changed the car and it gave more power, but didnt come into line with new emission laws, so they had to change it back.

kerry> perhaps for the other cars, but no sooty.

we all got that % some were infact higher but on average were around 28%

15 cars with 28% transmission losses to me is pretty accurate

the RR may be acurate, BUT the high @ fly figure is down to the low g/box oil temp.

which does not give an accurate @fly figure of his GTI.

do you understand the words that i am typing?

Bearing in mind ive driven 7 106GTi's in my time and with the exception of steve's mine was the most responsive and nippiest compared with others.

Yes...

And do you understand what I am typing? Everyone elses car's went through the same process, from sitting in the cold, to a very brief warm up, and onto the rollers. Surely if the low gearbox oil temp was that much of a contributary factor, it would have affected other cars too?

next RR i go to, im going to have the coldest thickest oil in my gearbox, on the coldest day of the year, with a huge PSI in my front tyres, and i'll get a figure of XXXbhp @ fly.

doesnt mean its accurate though does it?

ok my understandin is that if u have a low gearbox temp then this in effect would give a higher resistance resultin in high bhp loss through transmission

now to me that would then mean that if the gearbox is warm there is less resistance meanin less bhp lost through transmission meaning u stil have the same flywheel figure but a better figure at the wheels
