Anyone currently going through this?

I've got 2 quite important machines running XP which I'm currently migrating from but they run some specialised hardware for controlling big industrial machines.

On Friday I migrated a Windows 95 machine to a Windows XP one

Running old machinery with long dead unsupported software is a pain in the ass

Doing this over the next two weeks at work, good riddance as far as I'm concerned. All the better knowing that all of the machines bar 3 or 4 running XP will run Windows 8.1

Had a laugh with some special software but sussed most of it out

I've spent the day perfecting my mandatory profile for Windows 8.1 and I'm now ready to roll on my 60+ XP cull tomorrow

Wow this post has made me feel alot better about my situation.

I have 2 production machines to change, essentially controllers for big machiney, and thats it. We have 2 XPe machines on site but they will be supported till 2016 according to MS.

Reminds of a few stories i've heard about the NHS - brand new Dell's with Win7/8 getting nuked to make way for XP. Explains why they're attempting to get an extended support deal with MS though....

^^^ that happens an awful lot. When will they realise how much better Windows 7/8 is from a Group Policy/management aspect?
