Dropped into VW On my way home from work today and had a good look at an EOS, really liked it. Going to go and drive one next week.

The only alternative I can see that I want (not the focus bleh) is the Twin Top, anyone got any experience on either?

Thanks :-)

They'll all leak, mine rattles and its a heavy car, and the loom will fail on the hinge and cost £120 for a replacement after you've clambered round through the ski hatch to open the boot. Plus if you get the proper engine its £445 to tax.

That said, I couldn't get that spec of car at that age unless I got the Astra. EOS is probably better built but it was £5k more for the same age and spec.

There's enough about that you'll find a nice one, just don't get a 1600 with cloth and that horrible orange radio display. If I was buying again I'd probably favour full leather over the sat nav because not only is the nav terrible, its also less rare to find to retro-fit and probably an easier job if you wanted the seats heated.

What's the budget? At least if you get an older one, lash a reg on and wax it, it'll look like its still in production.

Mazda and SLK aren't Vauxhalls.

I've drilled holes in mine to let it drain out.

My mums got a Twintop. It's a 1.8 petrol and absolutely gutless! Wayyy too heavy for the power, feels numb round corners etc. And it rattles like hell inside due to loads of plastics. It's got nearly every extra on it minus sat nav and cost her fraction of the price of the equivalent German brands, but I'd say you do get what you pay for.

Mine doesn't handle too badly but ditto the plastics comment.

The consolation is that if the roof is down you don't generally notice it.

I think most of the rattles actually come from all the plastic covers on the interior of the roof, so when it's down all the noise goes under the boot lid

Nice enough looking cars, didn't realise any of them fell into the £400+ tax band though!

Yeah the 2 turbo, hence why they stopped making them 2008ish.

Its more expensive than a VXR hatch.

Diesel convertibles don't make sense to me. If I ever get another convertible it'll need a good engine so I can enjoy a sound track!

eos is ok - as long as you enjoy in car koi ponds....

when you go on training for the EOS roof at milton keynes they tell you : "The EOS does not leak water - this would imply it gets out - they collect it"
