They excell at being a fast fun hatch with lots of toys thats built on the cheap. Iv done 70k in mine, its on 90k now and although its abit rattly and getting abit tired i still love driving it. Iv had no real problems with mine and the engines are very strong if serviced often. Plugs are over £20 a set but u only need to do them every 60k

Theres a internet myth that the belts are exlensive to change. Any decent garage should charge less than £400 including all genuine renault belts.

Thanks adam.

I've noticed that they massively differ in prices, for example there is a 2004 model with 53k for £4.2k and a 2005 model with 51k for £5495. Thats a hell of a lot.

I've found this one

Anyone think its a good buy???

my mates got a 182 cup, he had a 172 with a few mods before which i actually prefered as it had half leather etc, his gearbox started to whine so he sold it

for the money they are far better than any other small hatch

I think they are brilliant cars, great fun if driven hard but refined and quite comfortable. Built quality isnt astonishing, wish someone would buy mine...

I think you would never get the most of it unless you used it on track, I love them.

My sisters owned a 172 Cup for 2 years now, pretty good cars but of course not without their faults.

You hear good and bad things like all cars. A mate of mine used his a lot and did over 50k in around 2 years and didn't have any problems, just the usual cost like any car.

I've done 45k in mine in two years and only had to service it which I will admit isnt the cheapest thing to do.

I did the belts last week and that set me back £550 with a lot of shopping around.
