3 of ma mates have them well 2 have the 182 and the other is the 172 cup but basically all the same lol
They all really rate them, not as fast as I thought they would be but I wouldnt say no to one especially the trophy version

I like the original one, with the rounder headlights and the vents in the bumper

They're lighter and faster than the phase 2 and the bonnet doesn't open on it's own.

I'd be saying the driver couldnt drive....these cars embaras scoobys out on track!
@ these there French comments....they are not as badly built as they once were and in all fairness its not far off Ford build quality and what track orientated hot hatch can do a sub 15 standing quarter stock and boast climate control cuise control and full electrics into the equation. Not to mentioned the highly rated chasis!
At the end of the day these are drivers cars and if you go on any Evo/Scooby forum they are everyones run around which speaks for its self.
I acually would spend money 3-4k on a phase one 172 than spend bucketsloads on a Saxo/106/Corsa/Nova/Fiesta to actually perform out on track and road when this can do it out of the box.

iv done 30k in 1 1/2 years with no probs (mines on 66k now). Maintainace can be expensive, eats breaks and front tyres, cam belt is a 6+ hour job the zorsts rust in about 10 mins. Other than that nothing can really touch then off the lights, handeling is awsome and they are stuffed full of toys like exon lights, half leather, diigtal climate control. I love mine
If you buy one do NOT go to a renault dealer.

^^ no within reason for a cheep front wheel drive hatch, mines been clocked at 6.6 to 60 which aint to bad, only really evos and scoobies can do them and IMO thats not bad for a cheep little hatch

Sorry I've driven one recently and I have to say its absolutely terrible to drive, driving position is far to far forward and steering wheel is literally in your face, wasn't all that quick either.

o yea there not without fault, but worth considering if youve gotta few £1000 to spend on a little hatch

Old man had a 182 Cup, which is lightened/standardised to improve performance! They are great fun, with the original stiffened side wall tyres, this car handles a dream. Despite the fact when you push it through the corners it sometimes decides to go on three wheels (anyone see the top gear feature? ), this car is immense, I love it!
