is there a name for the little dowel things that locate the head onto the block? also are they needed. c20let engine

they are just to align the head when fitting and keep the head gasket in place, its easyer to have them but i dont think they really have to be thre if you dont want them to be

have seen a friends civic have problems when they didnt put them back in the block. and thats on a honda engine.
