just finished putting the x16xe in my car instead of my x14xe, went to start and i ahve a flashing eml, and the car turning over but not making any effort to start.

we changed the ecu but have changed the transponder?

any ideas

flashing eml is immobiliser

you need to change transponder and chip or run it on the x14 ecu

eml flashing is immobiliser iirc, you'll need the transponder, and black ring that sits round the ignition barrel, from the car the ecu come from

could it be the standard alarm/immobiliser as we cut a yellow wire for the standard system

we have changed the black ring that sits round the ignition barrel and plugged it in,

isnt that the transponder?

It could be but you will still need to change the chip in the key and the black ring around the barrel!

sod changing the transponder chip n ring...
take the chip out and tape it to the top (12o'clock) on the ring.

sorted immobiliser prob, but we now have no spark, will sort it tomorrow sugesstions?

Still needs to be the right chip and ring for the ECU, and taping it together means someone can drive off with the car without the key easier than they can if the chip is in the key.

didnt need the new ring.


but, yes theres a security issue

The ring is coded, so afaik it wont work with the original ring, because it only looks for a specific chip frequency code
