drive it well but dont redline it etc.

if you give it more oomph the rings seal better but your engine doesnt last as long or something.

500 miles nothing above 3k on mineral oil. varying engine speed and load etc, no motorway miles. things like 4th gear @ 1500rpm accelerate hard untill 3k then back off. 2nd gear down a big hill etc.
oil and filter (synth) then start taking it up to say 5k. after 1500miles personally i would do oil and filter again then start driving harder. i wudnt redline it personelly till about 3000miles to be safe.
the first 5miles are rumoured to be the most important

i did mine simular to ben.

i filled my engine with 10/40 mineral oil, ran it for 20mins, then changed the oil + filter, drove it for 500miles keeping it under 3500rpm, changed oil + filer, ran it for another 500miles gradually taking it to about 5500rpm, then changed the oil + filter (good quality oil) and replaced the engine coolant, then drive it as u would normally

ive always thought you just keep the thing under 4k for a good few thousand miles then do a oil change and drive it gently as no mater what you do if you thrash a engine its gona bugger up quicker than if you drive a engine sensably. up to you tho. mines only got 57k on the clock and the only problem it has is the sump is weaping.

its a scary thing to watch with an expensive build. as soon as it fires for the very first time its straight to 4k @ 1/2 load.

when my mate re built his c20let.they fired it up let it tick over for a while.then drove it up and down the road a few times then thrashed it.his is still running fine.ive heard people saying not too thrash it just load the engine in different gears at different rpm.
