hehe, not much luck i have eh... must of cracked a mirror at some point in my life!
Heh, well yea ive just killed 2nd gear in my car so heres the story, slate me all you like its my own fault, but if you have any idea's as to what you think maybe the problem please do share.
Story goes...
At a set of lights, VW Passat 1.8 20v Turbo... I decide to give him a go. Pulls off, takes it upto 6,000 in first, drops to 2nd hear a bang and then theres just no acceleration at all. Pulled over as theres some rattling going on. Initial thoughts i thought driveshaft popped out but nope everythings fine, put in first rattling... pulled off drop to 2nd, theres just nothing at all wont go.
I now have no 2nd gear and a rattling inside the gearbox i presume.
Heh, yes dont race... but any idea's would be helpfull

My Cinquecento lost its 3rd gear... I just drove it for months without. When I got my Corsa I went for weeks missing out 3rd gear through force of habbit!

Well... checked some stuff out, nothing wrong with the gear.
It seems like its the Synchro-mesh thats either broken off or bent

Exactly the same in mine, F13 box, 2nd gear... BYE BYE!!!!!
Got a F15 waiting to go in... Ive drove mine round in this state for 2 months now...

Ah sweet, well fuck it im going to get a new F17 and a clutch... drive it till the clutch dies.

I can put it into 2nd with no clutch while engine is running, doesnts feel like it engages at all. if you put clutch down abit while its in 2nd hear it like scrapping on the cogs but 2nds not there.
i been told itll cost to much pissing about dropping the box, seeing whats wrong if its not fixable wasted time... might aswell just get a new box
