no loads of people break them all the time but striped one that blew up a few months back today to find 2nd gear toatally toothless and the first motion shaft snaped completely inhalf!
anyone done that before? was suprised as its about 2" diameter. on the rollers saturday so be interesting to see the torque figures

Never had a gearbox go myself.

Took apart a mates one after he shattered all the teeth off second gear and bent a selector rod

ile get some tomorow. had to split it for the crown and pinion wheel for wilkogsi.
bit of a cunt to dismantle is this was my first time. just knowing what undoes what and finding all the little circlips is have the battle. there not as complicated as i thought though.
i assumed it had bearings that had give up but couldnt belief how savage the internalls were that was all

Never stripped a broken one before, but I've had a working one apart and they look tough, but I'm sure that hey aren't up to much more than they were designed for.

not really. maybe 300 ish but think torque is more than average. just went with one hell of a bang changing from second to third at full chat. gearbox gave up before a standed clutch on flat type flywheel so let owners beware!

here we have the snapage. check out the striped teeth. Brutal!

heres the rotting corpse of the housing. not all that complicated. first motion shaft on the right which goes through to the clutch. gear cluster in the centre and diff on the left. easy.

not trying to teach people to suck eggs as ime sure is simple and obvious to some but maybe helpfull for 1st timers

the gear cluster with the pinion on the far left for wilko

and if anyones interested a standed f20 diff - the crown wheel

thats all
