speedo doesnt work due to me needing as relay i had on my 1.2 harness not on my 1.8..now i have been told how to do this...
The original 1.2 harness that you removed had the wiring included for the wheel speed signal converter relay which relays the signal from the left hand wheel speed sensor and then this feeds the dash. What you need to do is use this part of the old loom and re-instate this converter relay and the dash will work.
When looking at the fuse box there is a line of 6 relays running from top to bottom, next to these to the left hand side are 3 other relays again running from top to bottom. The signal converter module is the middle one of these 3 relays.
Your best bet is to try and utilize the original wiring set-up as that way your converting it back to a known set-up that was working before you carried out the engine swap. There’s 2 ways this can be done, the first is to re-instate the original harness and then cut all the wires to the ecu and then re-attach the plugs. The second is to strip out the section of loom for the converter relay all the way back to the body plug and then re-wire and re-instate the pins back into this main plug effectively creating a separate loom
im looking at doing the second option as already have done a full harness change..not doing it again!
now this relay has merely 5 wires...so i presume they need to be traced to where they go on the 1.2 loom and then put in the same positions on the 1.8...therefore the car can read them properly! am i right?
