In need of advice.
When insurance write off cars, but the car is repairable then why do they write off the cars ? Is it because of the cost of repairing it ?

It just that I got worried as I bought a car, then i thought i might as well do a HPI check and it got insurance write off noted.
The MOT been passed several times every year after the insurance write off as I seen the documents. Theres no major problems.
Am I safe ?

You're safe, but you should have been told it was a previous write off when you bought it.

why would someone trying to sell a car for profit tell a potential buyer about something that could lose them money on the sale?
sorry to go off topic but this just made me wonder

When selling a car you gotta be honest about the history of the car.

Well if the potential buyer done a hpi check before buying then they would know and say something to the owner of the car

You do not have to tell a seller that the vehicle has been a cat c write off.
I have owned several 'write-offs' before and sold them without any comebacks.
The only problem is if you hide the history - ie advertise the car as 'original condition'.
It is not up to the seller to disclose this history - it is up to the buyer to discover it by hpi check or other means.

Yeah thats correct but if the buyer was to ask if the car had been a write off the seller would have to tell the truth(can only prove he knew if it had been a written off while he owned it)
