if pull and twist dosent work. pop the cap out and get the hacksaw out, cut straight down the middle from the top, keep an eye out coz ull hit the steel shaft if u get carried away, the foam/rubber part will peel away then leavin a plastic cap over the shaft, this will need to go too cut this with hacksaw an ull be left with the shaft. make sure the new gearnob your fitting is compatible with lift/reverse though.

i dunnit once on my r reg 1.2 with just twist an pull, my w reg 1.4 sport dint wanna have that way so i had to turn to the saw method. got an L reg at the mo with 2.0 16v redtop in, gearnob decided to fall off on its own.

How do i know if the knob will be compatible?? its a sparco one & it looks the part but i was given it so i dunno if it will fit -

long as its lift up reverse it should be fine.
Try it and see

Mine fell off on its own when i first got the car. spring shot out and almost got me in the eye and everything was doing a 3 point turn at the time and held up some peeps while i put it back together

All knobs on Bs can be pulled off so long as the stick is held firm enough. Lift up the gaitor and pop the bottom bolt off, and remove the entire stick from the car. You can then grab it with a vice and the knob will come off very easily.

i used hairdyer to warm the glue then i juts twisted and it came off
