All it would do is the same as a paperclip test and flash the same as the engine management light.

There is a fing where it tells u the fault code when you have a prob saves going down the garage every time!

i got one from halfords, comes with the fault finder chart aswell, easy to use. just plug into the diagnostics plug in the fuse box and away you go
