Got a problem at the moment and its pissing me off. Ive got a 1.0 12v and about 4 weeks ago i started loosing power at about 4k revs in 3 rd gear, this was after a good run, so everything was warm. Then a week later the engine managment light came on and ever since, when ever going up hill the engine managment light comes on and i lose power, this also happens when i accelarate hard from 2nd to 3rd gear, it pisses me off as i cant over take and the cars seems slugish, ive replaced the manifold as it had a crack in and thats not the problem, could it be something to do with the spark plug side of things, could it be the cat? any ideas as im not willing to pay £42 a hour at my local Vaux garage,

get a fault reader from Halfords and find out the fault code, then we can tell you what the fault is.

rob i had exactly the same problem mate. Totally identical. Took it to vauxhall, they replaced a part, cant remember what it was but it was a tricky fucker as they showed me ( i have a mate down there). They thought it was the problem, it did sort it out for around a week, then it totally fucked up again. In the end i swapped it for a 1.2 which was an easy job. We've taken apart the one litre, and discovered that the engine was only running on two cylinders! How many miles u got? Cos it happened to me at 39000 miles.

my first bit of advice would be to check wat the warning light is tryin to tell you by buying one of those fault readers from halfords.

try doing a compression test,if u dont no how to do it get a garage to do it.

reset ur ecu as there might be sum air/fuel mixture problems that u dont on about.

at a last resort use some 10k to unclog ur engine of carbon deposits.

if u need more help just u2u me

Did you ever get the problem sorted? What was it? Sounds like it was the air flow metre.

Mate has just had the same problem with a '97 1.0 LS. Took it to Vaux and they pulled his pants down £500 for an air flow meter and a Lambda sensor :-(
