can i get little adaptor sections allowing me to mate up different brands of centre section to backboxes... otherwise i'll have to grind, chop and weld my way to success

Get the Tweeks Race and Rally catalogue - they do Jettex and Custom Chrome stailess exhaust sections (straights/curves etc...)
