It's just shit.

The alternators on bmws have air ducting to cool them, it gets uber hot under there, probably causing them to wear faster than other smaller engined cars, generating less heat.

Dad did buy his for £30k and had problems.

Figure that one out

Should have got an Astra VXR, at least it would have been fast round the Nurburgring

I did tell him, nobody listens, they want German so they can have excellent service from their dealers and brilliant reliablity.....oh wait....

Ian I was driving at the time, on a pretty twisty nat speed limit road. Braked on a sharp bend to about maybe 20% duty of my brakes!!

Anyway,

Jury is in now, they've been & gone. It WAS indeed a loose bleed nipple!! They have taken my car away to check the rest of it out & have left me a rather 'nifty' mini.

Like Joe said it was almost a 50k car and its fully loaded and tuned how can you expect it to not

A) Break on occasion
b) cost money to fix.

Its all very well people harking on about should of got this and that but at the end of the day whether it be a Focus or an Astra I am sure there are issues that happen you dont hear about.

If the M3 was such a bad car and the Astra VXR was better then BMW wouldnt of sold loads world wide and most of them wouldnt have moon miles on them also.
Ok Jambo and Colin have been unfortunate but thats luck of the draw. I'm sure it all becomes worth it when the smash the loud pedal.

Note to Jambo, get a helicoil in your headlight. You don't need to replace it

Ive not been unfortunate tbh, some tools forgot to tighten the bleed nipple on my brake service. Theres nothing wrong with mine except someone doing a dogs dinner of a job

Their investigation reveals that the car needs a new bleed nip. Whether thats been due to them at fault or part failure is unknown. However due to the nature of the incident, the fact that work has recently been carried out in that area and how it could have been much worse under different circumstances they are prepared to give me a gesture of goodwill.

Goodwill gesture - next service on the house.

Next service is due in 2k miles - Inspection II. £1k service. Im easilly bought!!

Thats more than fair though, I dont want to be an arse, im happy at that.

Jades car is also to be taken in & 'something worked out'.

Good result I think, im still here, cars not damaged, Ive just saved a stack of money!!

Think I might keep it now!!
