Don't be daft. It would look (and handle) totally unbalanced. The rest of the car is quite in your face, so it can hardly have a subtle spoiler. The rear spoiler is functional, as are the bonnet vents.
The vents look no worse than the Escort Cosworths, and I guess the same comparison can be made with the spoiler too.

Its all opinion. I dont like escort cosworths either, especially the stupid spoiler. Also you dont need big spoilers on cars, just put a bit of effort into whats going on with the air under the car. But in my opinion ford have chosen to make it look like they have because they think it will sell more.

It is pretty wild, and if somone was to put that on a modern car it would get shot down in flames, but i like it.
It probably comes down to what i've been taught to like and what looks cool.
So Colin, you still put off ordering one due to the unfriendly salesman?

Im going to take a trip to another dealers at the weekend (although same group that rubbed me up the wrong way last time - hopefully get to talk to someone thats no a cock!!) to see what there saying bout delivery times. Ive been hearing that books are filled for this year from some folk & june/july from others.
I might be tempted to sign up after the good reports

From what i've heard, the delivery dates have been put back about a month.
So my dads original date of 14th of March will be closer to the middle of April.
He filled out the form and officially registered his interest in April/May 2008, and finalised his order around November.
So taking those dates into considderation, if you ordered one now, i think you'd be looking around October for delivery.
It certainly seems like its going to be a good car, but i don't know if i could wait that long.
You'd probably have a better chance getting hold of a 2nd hand one (assuming there won't be a premium on them).

Mine runs limited boost in first and second and it has far less power. If the traction isn't there, power is pointless.

Personally I think its looks a bit crap... Too many stick on bits. Could of done so much better... But it looks like it drives well!!! And glad they gave it some noise. Doesn't the VXR-R "Claim" 0-60 in 4.9 and 170mph top end! And yet its the same power/torque? Ford being conservative with their figures?

Fast track car? No
Super Fast ROAD car, yes.....
This will oblitorate the VXR/S on the roads I think. VXR will have it on the track.
Ford used all the special gizmo's on the suspension n such. The VXR is just coilovers and a diff.....
All the people whinging about the looks, why carry on whinging, if you don't like it, don't buy it, so therefore don't moan about somethign your not gonna even get.
Im not keen on the rear spoiler, but it will keep the rear end down (proven by the Escort Cossie), and im sure its not there just for "chav factor".
Tell me what chavs can afford £25k?
Only thing is, for £25k, the interiour didn't scream "quality" at me.
I was more interested in the GTE Vs RS battle Mannnnn those rear ends stick out.
Consider those cars have 20 years history. Look how much more the heavy fat assed big wheels 300bhp FWD Focus handled bends, and how badly those cars of 20 years ago went round the bends with half the power

Watched it yesterday and for the first time sort of enjoyed it....
MPG comparison was void as well the golf had an extra passenger (who was a nob)
edit: if you want to be economical get a derv cruise around and be economical when you want to be then give it the beans and get a short punch of the turbo
The golf is a much better car than that honda - quicker too
